A behavior your dog NEEDS to know.

This behavior might just look like a cute trick, but its uses are ENDLESS.

Meet your new favorite cue, Middle.

You can name this behavior anything you want, but for my purposes I will be calling it "Middle".

Middle is a super adorable trick that anyone can teach their dog, but did you know that it is also a great management tool?

On top of management, it can be an excellent way to get your dog's attention back to you.

When you have a reactive dog, many times it can feel dangerous taking them out on walks. Using the cue "Middle" gets them in a perfect position that can keep them safe from potential off leash threats, and also redirect their attention back to you.

This can easily be your dog's "Safe Spot" when they feel a bit unsure about their surroundings.

I cannot recommend this position enough for fearful dogs, especially those smaller dogs! If you are tempted to pick your dog up in many scenarios but not sure if you should, using the middle.

Does your dog struggle with coming close to you when you call them or want to leash them up? Ask for the middle cue! Your dog can't really get any closer than in-between your legs.

This is a great place to deliver treats to your dog and regain their focus.

Try teaching your dog this trick and let me know if you run into any problems!

If you find this trick easy, go ahead and try it for longer durations and in new places! Think your dog is too big? Teach them to do it in a down position or to use just their head.
